My week long experiment

My week long experiment...Read on...

We urge all Latter-day Saints to be prudent in their planning, to be conservative in their living, and to avoid excessive or unnecessary debt. - Thomas S. Monson

This caught my attention and brought to mind something that I did recently. My husband was leaving town for a week to do work in another Country. His basic needs were going to be covered the whole time he was away from home. So I had a thought. I didn't make a big deal about it, I just started once he left thinking... Hmm maybe I could go all week without making ONE purchase. Not a single thing!

Well one day lead to another, my week was SO jam packed with meetings and other activities besides working full time.

Sure it would have been SO much easier to run thru the nearest drive thru and grab something. After all I am just one person, it would be so much easier. Especially when my day turned into night and I wasn't getting home until 9:00 or 10:00 each night.

Well I am happy to report, that it was a full 8 days of no spending and I could easily do another week or more. Actually I could use some gas in my car now. My point is this. Lets all rethink our spending habits. Make due with what we have and be happy with what we have. There is nothing worse then debt! The bondage from it is real, and the freedom of it is liberating!

If we have some food storage, it might be a good idea to see what we actually go through in a weeks time without replenishing our stock. Give it some thought!
