I think this is certainly worth a try. Just the other day I threw one of these away.

Grow your own celery from your remains from the store. Just chop off the base and plant. One week of growth shown in photo.

Here is another handy tip that my daughter taught me, to extent the life of your produce. Sometime I find myself purchasing green onions at the store only to use a few from the whole bunch and watching the rest go bad in the refrigerator. With this new tip you can purchase them once and then continue to enjoy them, for free.

Instructions
1. Chop the part of the green onion that’s actually green and use it in a recipe as needed.
2. Preserve the bulb end, keeping the remaining white part with roots intact.
3. Fill a tall glass with about 1 inch of water.
4. Place the bulb ends of the green onions in the glass, with the roots facing down. Make sure the roots are covered by the water.
5. Place the glass in a sunny location or under a UV lamp. Refresh the water every two days. In about seven days, the green onion will send out shoots, forming green onion tops once again. The green tops should be ready to harvest in about two weeks.
